Q: HOW DO I MAKE EXCHANGES?

A: Exchange works like a bank account:
1. DEPOSIT your vacation time---this is known as "Spacebanking" your time. This may be done from 2 years to 14 days before its start date.
2. REQUEST your exchange week/s at a comparable resort for the vacation time that you deposited. ("Like" trades for "like" or less.)
3. RECEIVE a confirmed exchange.
4. GO!

5. Instant Exchange… The Instant Exchange system set up with in the RCI System is designed to provide last minute exchange dates. The timeframe is 45 days or less. However the rule is there is no rule! You may exchange any season for any season, any size for any size. There are no constraints on where to go or what quality of stay you may achieve. If the 45 day window fits your style (or perhaps one year it fits) you might find it attractive. Those of you that have purchased lesser sized units, such as a studio, may exchange into a 2 bedroom, if you own Blue or White time, you may exchange for Red. Many RCI "Veterans" use Instant Exchange exclusively. They find many Great Resorts are subject to last minute cancellations. The Instant Exchange is a feature of RCI of which few people are aware. It works… I have used it with tremendous success!

Q: TELL ME MORE ABOUT RCI AND ITS BACKGROUND

A: RCI, the largest and oldest exchange company in the world, allows timeshare owners to exchange their weeks with other owner’s worldwide. They have been operating for nearly 30 years. They provide you with a directory of their resorts, and this is updated regularly. They also send out their "ENDLESS VACATION" magazine, every 2 months, which is very informative. They have a travel agency for RCI members only, which offers discounted airfares, car rentals, cruises, as well as last minute mid-week or weekend getaways at greatly reduced prices, without having to use the time that you have deposited.

Q: WHAT FEES DO RCI CHARGE?

A: Resort Properties, will give you RCI membership for the current year. Thereafter each RCI member is liable for the RCI annual fee, which is currently $89 per member, regardless of how many weeks you own. RCI charges an exchange fee every time you make a reservation through them. They are:

All exchanges made in the USA and CANADA (US Funds)... $164
All International and foreign exchanges (US Funds)... $199

Should you wish to give a gift of your timeshare to a family member, business associate, or a friend, you may do so by purchasing a GIFT CERTIFICATE for $59, in addition to the above exchange fee.

Q: CAN I ONLY MAKE AN EXCHANGE IF SOMEONE ELSE USES THE WEEK THAT I OWN?

A: No. The moment that you place your week into the "Spacebank" pool, you immediately become eligible for a timeshare exchange, and can go ahead and make your request. As long as you "Spacebank" your week as early as possible, you should have no difficulty in obtaining an exchange to your liking. All exchanges are made based on availability. Last year, RCI satisfied over 98% of requests.
